Transportation and traffic seems blurred in our daily conversation. traffic is a flow or current in network system (in this case, roads or aerial space). While transportation means movement from one place to another. That's what the professor told me. Well, the most important thing is, transportation need to be planned. By government, by planners, by those who understand how big and how urgent the situation was. Transportation and traffic is a function of displacement affected by various activity that caused by different land use.
Problems in transportation usually consist of land use scenario, activity system, flow system, and lastly is transportation system. Why people need to transport? Society has many demands and needs hence to fulfill that, we need to find resources. There are no region that can support all function in one place. Distance between this supporting zone is overcome by transportation system. Various supporting zone means different land use, and in every region there are different land use scenario. Therefore it creates particular activity by its local society and creates unique pattern of movement (flow system) in one region. That condition needs a comprehensive thoughts about transportation system. And that's why transportation planning is so crucial.
